Brookwood Community Farm Trip

Brookwood Community Farm is an organic farm that is short walk from the school. The children's introduction to the farm came in the form of a mystery squash that appeared in the midst of the school's garden.  The teachers explained that they had not planted the squash.  How could it have gotten there?

The walk gave us an occasion to explore the school's neighborhood, and meet our neighbors - and to talk about community.  The farm gave us an occasion to explore the science and mechanics of farming and understanding where our food comes from.
